Nan Hughes-Poole brings light and laughter into the lives of all she touches through her various volunteer efforts in the Bow Valley.
As a professionally trained singer, she brings music into the lives of many of the children in Banff. She spends countless hours conducting and planning our community Christmas concerts and orchestrating our high school musicals, enriching the lives of many with her incredible talents.
In addition to her musical talents, Nan also donates her time to the Girl Guides organization and dedicates her efforts to creating strong female leaders who learn how to themselves give back to their communities.
In seasons past Nan organized a group of carolers, aged 5-12, who spread musical cheer though the streets of Banff. The young singers were awarded a honourarium from the Town of Banff, and after their season wrapped up, they decided to donate the funds to tsunami relief efforts.
“The children learned, that even at the age of 5, that they could help some across the world,” Nan said.
Congratulations Nan and thank you for your contributions to the Banff Community. You are truly an inspiration and you make Banff a better place to live because of your dedication to helping others. SHINE would like to say, “thank you for who you are and most of all Thanks for Giving!
